It might all be pointless anyway. But that isn't such a bad thing. It takes off some of the pressure.
If you really believe, "Whether you succeed or fail, if you don't learn anything from doing something, then it's all pointless." then you are essentially redefining success to be that you learned something. This is not a bad definition for success, but not the most commonly accepted one.
As the saying goes, it takes experience to get what you want, but experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
